Prior to 1999, 911 engines were cooled by air and oil, offering a distinct mechanical feel. Starting with the 996 generation in 1999, Porsche transitioned to water-cooled (liquid-cooled) engines to meet stricter emissions standars and produce higher performance. At 900 Series Motorsports, we are experts in servicing and restoring both generations,
-
It depends heavily on the era of your 911. Modern water-cooled models generally require a minor service (oil and filter) every 10,000 miles or once a year, with major services every 30,000 to 40,000 miles. Vintage air-cooled models require more frequent attention, including routine valve adjustments and oil change typically every 3,000 to 5,000 miles annually.
-
Yes. At 900 Series Motorsports, we provide complete Porsche Macan and Cayenne service in Las Vegas, alongside full maintenance for the Panamera. From routine oil changes and brake replacements to factory-scheduled maintenance and complex electrical diagnostics, our independent Porsche repair shop keeps your daily-driven luxury SUV safe, reliable, and performing at its peak.
-
No. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, it is illegal for a manufacturer or dealership to deny your Porsche factory or CPO warranty coverage simply because you had routine maintenance or repairs performed at an independent Porsche repair shop, or because high-grade aftermarket parts were used. To help you maintain your warranty compliance, 900 Series Motorsports follows Porsche’s factory-recommended maintenance intervals, uses OEM and premium parts that meet or exceed factory specifications, and provides detailed, itemized service records for your files. (If you have a third-party extended service contract, we also work directly with most major warranty providers—just ask our team to check your policy!)
-
Factory guidelines recommend a minor service every 10,000 miles or once a year. However, because of extreme Las Vegas heat and stop-and-go driving, we often recommend oil changes every 5,000 to 7,500 miles to maximize engine longevity.
-
A Minor service (10k miles) includes an oil/filtter change and a full safety inspection. An Intermediate service (20k miles) adds cabin and engine air filters and brake fluid flushing. A Major service (40k miles) includes spark plugs, drive belt checks, and transmission/PDK fluid service.
-
High-performance Porsche brakes use specialized compounds that can occasionally squeak due to brake dust buildup or light city driving. We can inspect your pad thickness and rotors to tell you honestly if they simply need cleaning or if it is time for replacement.
-
This is a common symptom of a worn transfer case in all-wheel drive Porsche SUVs. Often, a specialized fluid flush can resolve the issue early on, though we are fully equipped to repair or replace the transfer case if needed.
-
A solid yellow or orange light means you can safely drive to our shop for a diagnostic scan. If the Check Engine light is flashing, or if a red warning light appears (such as low coolant or oil pressure), pull over safely and call us before driving further.
-
Yes. We use Porsche-specific diagnostic software to accurately read fault codes, reset service intervals, calibrate air suspensions, and program new compoponents across all modern water-cooled models.
-
Yes. Air suspension issues on Cayennes, Macans, and Panameras are frequently caused by a leaking air strut, a worn compressor, or a faulty level sensor. We isolate the exact failing component rather than replacing the entire system unnecessarily.
-
We perform a bumper-to-bumper evaluation including a lift inspection for fluid leaks and suspension wear, brake measurements, computer fault code scans, paint/body checks, and a road test.
-
Modern water-cooled Porsches (especially Cayennes, Panameras, and 911s) use plastic expansion tanks, composite cooling fittings, and water pumps that naturally wear out from intense heat cycles. Catching a small coolant leak early—before a brittle tank or fitting gives out completely—prevents roadside breakdowns and severe engine overheating.
-
The PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung) is Porsche’s dual-clutch automatic transmission found in most modern models. To prevent costly transmission failures and keep shifts crisp, the clutch and gear fluids shold be serviced every 40,000 miles or 4 to 6 years.
-
The Intermediate Shaft (IMS) bearing in earlier water-coolled flat-six engines can wear out prematurely and cause severe engine damage. We inspect and upgrade this bearing with a permanent, heavy-duty solution—often while replacing the clutch.
-
Usually not. Many air-cooled oil leaks come from accessible gaskets, valve covers, or oil return tubes. We pinpoint the exact leak first, though we are renowned for full, concourse-level engine restorations when a rebuild is truly needed.
-

A noisy or slow-moving window—or a frameless window that fails to drop slightly when you pull the door handle—is typically caused by a failing Porsche window regulator, worn cable pulleys, or dry window guide channels. If you hear a ccrunching or popping sound inside the door of your 911, Boxters, Cayman, Cayenne, Macan or Panamera, avoid using the window switcch to prevent the glass from dropping into the door panel, and bring it to our Las Vegas shop for a fast window regular or microswitch replacement.
